Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources met Kenya's climate envoy to discuss cooperation on green manufacturing, biofuels, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction. Officials from ECHEM and the ministry's climate team joined the talks, covering carbon reduction, circular economy practices, and technical exchange. Kenya also shared its experience in geothermal power generation, and both sides agreed to keep coordinating through Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ECHEM presented a pipeline of low-carbon projects, including sustainable aviation fuel from used cooking oil, bioethanol, green ammonia, and low-carbon urea. Those build on the $135 million financing secured in October 2025 for the Damietta bioethanol project, which is set to produce 100,000 tons per year from sugar beet molasses. The meeting did not announce timelines or binding commitments, so the next step is whether these talks turn into funded projects and concrete technology transfer.
