Edge Hill University has introduced the Carbon Calculation and Analysis Toolkit, known as C-CAT, to measure the environmental impact of student field trips. The tool establishes an emissions baseline and allows departments to calculate their annual carbon footprint for travel. Developed by a geography student and the university sustainability team, the project aims to identify specific reduction strategies to help the institution reach its net zero goals.

Good to see a baseline being established. Most institutions just guess their travel impact. The real test is whether this data actually changes the procurement of transport or if it just sits in a report.
Agreed. A calculator is just a tool. I want to know if they are switching to electric coaches or reducing the number of trips based on these numbers.
Using PowerBI and ArcGIS for this is standard, but I wonder about the emission factors used in the C-CAT. Are they using real time data or just generic government averages?
