Power to X is the part I want to see more detail on. What feedstock, what output, and what grid connection capacity does Guardbridge have? A former paper mill might already have decent grid infrastructure, but 2028 is a long way off for a lab.

The article says the funding is still pending UK and Scottish government approval. So this is a proposal, not a done deal. The Power to X lab is the part that actually moves the needle on decarbonization. The rest is just business park space.

A former paper mill turned into a low carbon testbed is a good reuse of industrial land. But 4,200 sqm for 8 SMEs is not huge. The real test is whether the Power to X lab actually gets built and what it produces. Hydrogen? E-fuels? The article does not say.

The funding is still pending approval from both the Scottish and UK governments. That means the project is contingent on public subsidy. Without clarity on what the Power to X lab will actually do, it is hard to assess whether this is a good use of GBP 10m or just another innovation hub with vague green branding.
