Exactly my first thought. Grid connection queues are already a bottleneck. More investment is good but without transmission upgrades it's just paper commitments.

Miliband has been pushing hard on this. The UK has decent offshore wind pipeline but electrification of heat and transport is still way behind. That's where the money needs to go.

If they're serious about electrification they need to address heat pump installation costs and grid capacity for home charging. Those are the practical blockers that policy alone can't fix.

Heat pump rollout is painfully slow in the UK. The upfront cost is still too high even with grants. Electrification without affordability is just a talking point.
