EcoGuard Global and CONFED Launch Digital Carbon Platform for 3 Million Coconut Farmers in the Philippines
aapnews.aap.com.auEcoGuard Global, a Swiss climate-tech firm, and the Confederation of Coconut Farmers Organizations (CONFED) have officially gone live with the CONFED Carbon Office in the Philippines. This digital platform, built on Hedera's distributed ledger technology, aims to register, verify, and manage carbon projects across roughly 3.6 million hectares of coconut farmland. The move follows a January 2026 announcement at Davos and is designed to help connect farmers with climate finance through high-integrity carbon credits. The platform includes digital MRV, traceability, and credit management, with the first project being the Samar COCAL Agroforestry Project, which could generate 200,000 credits annually. EcoGuard has also made an initial investment in that project's credits. The deployment aligns with the Philippines' 2026-2030 voluntary forest carbon market roadmap, which identifies over a million hectares for carbon investment. This could become a model for other nature-based carbon markets in Asia.
