Ecocem has completed a factory-scale trial with Belgian precast specialist C-concrete, using its ACT low-carbon cement technology. The trial showed a 67.5% reduction in the carbon footprint of precast concrete, and required no changes to existing manufacturing processes. This is a significant step for low-carbon concrete production at scale. The trial demonstrates that ACT cement can be dropped into existing precast production lines without retooling or process changes. That matters because construction is one of the hardest sectors to decarbonize, and precast concrete is a huge part of it. If this can scale without disrupting production schedules, it removes a major barrier to adoption. For anyone tracking industrial decarbonization, this is a concrete example (pun intended) of a technology moving from lab to real production. The next question is cost and how fast Ecocem can ramp up supply to meet demand from precast plants across Europe.
