EC3 2.0 Beta and Open Embodied Carbon Data at Greenbuild 2026
streetinsider.comBuilding Transparency is showcasing EC3 2.0 at Greenbuild 2026, a full rebuild of its open-access embodied carbon calculator for construction materials. The platform now holds more than 250,000 Environmental Product Declarations across 200 plus material categories, with tools for comparing products and tracking project-level carbon. The beta launch focuses on the Find and Compare Materials module, with more features rolling out in phases. The nonprofit is also introducing a membership program to fund the infrastructure while keeping core tools free. Separately, its Open Data for Climate Initiative is developing verified generic life cycle assessment datasets for regions that lack product-specific EPDs, starting with cement, concrete, timber, and steel. That work is meant to support Buy Clean programs and embodied carbon policies that depend on reliable, comparable data.
