East Coast Cluster carbon capture project creates 60 jobs on Teesside with new piping contract
thenorthernecho.co.ukThe East Coast Cluster, one of the UK's first carbon capture and storage projects, has awarded a piping prefabrication contract to Cavendish Northern Limited in Billingham, Teesside. The deal is expected to create more than 60 skilled jobs including welders, pipefitters, and quality assurance staff. The project is part of the UK government's push to decarbonize industry and power generation while building regional supply chains. To date, NZT Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership have awarded over 250 UK subcontracts worth more than 2 billion pounds. The cluster is set to support over 3,000 jobs during construction. Cavendish already employs seven apprentices and plans to add more, signaling long-term workforce development tied to carbon capture infrastructure.
