A piping prefabrication contract awarded to Cavendish Northern Limited as part of the East Coast Cluster is expected to create over 60 jobs at its Billingham facility in Teesside. The roles include welders, pipefitters, inspectors, and quality assurance staff, with additional apprenticeship opportunities. The contract is part of the UK government's first two carbon capture and storage clusters, delivered by Technip Energies and partners including GE Vernova and Balfour Beatty. The East Coast Cluster combines NZT Power and the Northern Endurance Partnership. More than 250 UK subcontracts worth over 2 billion pounds have been awarded so far. The project aims to support over 3,000 jobs during construction and help decarbonize industry and power generation in the North East. Minister for Energy Michael Shanks highlighted the project's role in driving investment and economic growth.
