500k tonnes is decent for a single site but still small relative to Sweden's total emissions. The key will be what they do with the captured CO2. Storage or utilization? Article doesn't say.

Biomass with CCS is one of the few ways to get negative emissions. But the energy penalty for capture is real. Would like to see the cost per tonne estimate for this study.

Sweden has a carbon tax that makes CCS economics work better than most places. That's probably why E.ON is looking at this now. Policy drives deployment, not just tech readiness.

Waste-to-energy with capture makes sense. You're already burning the stuff, might as well pull the CO2 out. But the operational complexity and maintenance costs often get underestimated.

Capsol has done this before, so that's a positive sign. But feasibility studies are cheap. The real test is whether E.ON puts capital behind it. Lots of CCS studies never get built.
