E.ON has hired Capsol Technologies to run a feasibility study for carbon capture at its biomass and waste-to-energy site in Norrkoping, Sweden. The study will look at installing a system that could capture up to 500,000 metric tons of CO2 per year. Capsol won the contract through a competitive tender, suggesting growing interest in cost-effective capture for biomass and waste-to-energy plants. If the project moves forward, it could cut emissions from energy generation and potentially deliver carbon removal, since biomass-based capture can produce negative emissions. The Nordic region is becoming a test bed for these technologies. This deal also strengthens Capsol's position in a market where operators are looking for scalable ways to meet climate targets.
