Dutch Barrier Services cuts aluminum carbon footprint to 3.8 kg CO2 per kg with certified sustainable sourcing

Dutch Barrier Services, a crowd safety barrier supplier, reduced the carbon impact of its products by 35% to a certified 3.8 kg CO2 per kilogram of aluminum. The company sources low-carbon aluminum from Speira and Hydro, using hydropower and recycled content. Speira supplies RIVOS sheets with a certified maximum of 4 kg CO2 per kg, while Hydro extrusion profiles introduced in Q2 2026 further cut alloy emissions. Off-cuts from production are returned to Speira for remelting, closing the loop on material use. Manufacturing at the same site as Dutch Barrier Solutions eliminates transport emissions and speeds up production. The shift from standard aluminum, which typically emits 10 to 22 kg CO2 per kg, to certified low-carbon options represents an 80% reduction. This case shows how product-level carbon accounting and supplier partnerships can deliver measurable cuts in embodied emissions for event infrastructure.
