DuPont's near-term and long-term climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. The company plans to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions 83% by 2035 from a 2019 base year, and Scope 3 emissions 63% from a 2020 base year. Longer term, it aims for 90% reductions in both categories by 2050, supporting net-zero across its value chain. The validation builds on earlier progress. DuPont says it has already reduced combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions 76% since 2019 and Scope 3 emissions 59% from the 2020 baseline. Its previous SBTi-validated 2030 target was met ahead of schedule. For buyers and suppliers, third-party validation adds a layer of accountability to corporate climate pledges. DuPont also positions the targets as a way to help customers cut emissions in their own supply chains.
