DRC Expands Econetix Article 6 Authorization to 2.75M Carbon Credits, Boosting CORSIA-Eligible Supply
carbonherald.comThe Democratic Republic of the Congo has raised Econetix's Article 6 authorization from 750,000 to 2.75 million tCO2e, covering the company's Gold Standard clean energy program. The expanded authorization includes solar lighting, home solar systems, and clean cookstove distribution, with corresponding adjustments confirmed under Article 6.2 to avoid double counting. This move locks in CORSIA eligibility for vintages through 2033, making the credits usable for aviation compliance. Econetix now holds more than 14.5 million authorized credits across Uganda, DRC, and Rwanda. The DRC's national registry will serve as the official registry, with the next issuance expected in October 2026. This expansion signals growing confidence in Article 6 mechanisms and adds supply to the CORSIA market.
