Drax, the UK's largest carbon emitter, signed a £20 billion deal with Brookfield and Radiant to host a data centre at its North Yorkshire site. Up to 100MW of computing could run by early 2028, with potential expansion beyond 1GW. Drax initially acts as landlord, providing the site and grid connections. Supplying the data centre with its own electricity is planned for the early 2030s, pending regulatory approval before 2031. The same update covers Brazil's COP30 fossil fuel roadmap, Gabon's 6 million tonne ART-TREES forest credit sale to SEFE, and the UK's £11.6 billion climate finance pledge. Brazil's documents set no deadlines and no binding targets. Gabon's credits qualify under CORSIA, with proceeds held in a dedicated account until national sharing rules are set. The UK counts 201 million tonnes of emissions cut or avoided since 2011, though it has not published a full spending breakdown.
