5.1 MW is a decent start for a single hub, but I wonder about the local grid stability in that part of the DR. Are they using this purely for behind the meter consumption or is there a feed-in agreement with the utility?
Usually these corporate hubs prioritize self-consumption to hedge against volatile local energy prices. The real question is whether this counts toward a national target or if it is just a private offset for their corporate ESG reporting.
Solar is the easy win. I would be more interested to see if they are electrifying the actual cargo handling equipment or just powering the office lights and warehouses with the panels.
DP World is pushing these small scale solar installs across several ports. It is a practical way to cut operational emissions without waiting for a total grid overhaul.
