DP World is expanding its Low Carbon Truck Programme in the UK with a new phase called EVITA. The initiative lets hauliers rent and test electric HGVs for 12-week periods at Southampton port, with costs aligned to diesel. Trucks from Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and MAN are available, and the programme expects to offer up to 100 trial slots over three years. More than 1,500 trucks are already registered under the programme, supporting over 60 UK hauliers. Participants like Williams Shipping and ATL Haulage have received vehicles fitted with tracking to analyze performance and emissions. The trial runs from July 2026 to 2029 and is backed by the University of Cambridge's Centre for Sustainable Road Freight.
