DP World deploys 35 electric terminal tractors at Jeddah port, targets 100% electrification by 2030
dredgewire.comDP World has added 35 electric terminal tractors at Jeddah Islamic Port's South Container Terminal in Saudi Arabia. The new units replace diesel-powered equipment and are expected to cut CO2 emissions from the terminal tractor fleet by roughly 20%. The tractors move containers between the quayside and yard, supporting faster vessel turnaround and cleaner port operations. The deployment is part of an $800 million investment to modernize the terminal. DP World aims to electrify all equipment at the site by 2030. The move also supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan to build a competitive logistics sector with lower carbon impact. Earlier in 2026, the terminal added three semi-automated quay cranes, bringing its ship-to-shore crane total to 17.
