Dow and Amcor have announced a strategic collaboration to help brands adopt low-carbon packaging without redesigning products or adding infrastructure. The partnership pairs Dow's low-carbon polyethylene with Amcor's packaging manufacturing to offer a drop-in solution that reduces Scope 3 emissions. They will use a Carbon Footprint Ledger methodology based on mass balance, aligned with ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol, to give customers verified emissions data. The goal is to create clearer demand signals and lower adoption risk through market-based mechanisms. For brands, this means they can swap in lower-impact materials while keeping the same performance and design. The collaboration also reflects a broader push to tackle value-chain emissions that often dominate a company's footprint, making it a practical example of how industrial firms can cooperate on climate goals without waiting for new regulations.
