Eni CCUS Holding has installed the Douglas platform in Liverpool Bay, a purpose-built offshore hub for collecting CO2 from industrial sites in North West England and North Wales. The platform is the centerpiece of the HyNet cluster, sending captured carbon through repurposed subsea pipelines into depleted gas fields. With this install, the overall project is about 50% complete. Around 60% of the project's capital spending is going through UK supply chains, supporting 2,000 construction jobs and an expected 200 to 300 permanent roles during the platform's 25-year operating life. The milestone is real, but the next test is operational. The platform still needs industrial emitters to build capture capacity and the storage wells to perform as expected once CO2 injection starts.
