Dongfeng's Five-Year Plan: Zero Carbon, Solid-State Batteries, and Global EV Expansion

Dongfeng Motor laid out its next five-year strategy at Tech Innovation Week, combining a zero-carbon push with an aggressive overseas expansion. The Sky Pure Zero Carbon plan aims to aggregate over 10 million charging facilities with partners and cut carbon by more than 1 million tons annually. On the technology side, Dongfeng completed a 0.2GWh solid-state battery pilot line and plans to put its 350Wh/kg hybrid solid-liquid battery into mass production in Q4 2026, followed by 50,000 solid-state battery vehicles in 2027. Overseas, Dongfeng targets 50 billion yuan in investment, over 50 models, 10 production bases, and 5 R&D centers by 2030, with overseas sales of 1.5 million units. First half 2026 exports were already up 97% year on year. The plan shows how a major Chinese automaker is tying EV technology, charging infrastructure, and export growth into one roadmap. The open question is whether the carbon reduction numbers hold up as the charging network scales.
