DNV Appointed Independent Certifier for UK's First Offshore CCS Project
offshore-energy.bizDNV will serve as the independent certifier for the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), the first offshore carbon capture and storage project in the UK. The role involves verifying that the construction and operation of the CO2 transport and storage infrastructure meet the strict requirements of the UK government license. The NEP project, a joint venture between BP, Equinor, and TotalEnergies, includes an onshore gathering network and a 145 kilometer offshore pipeline leading to the Endurance saline aquifer. Storage is expected to begin in 2028, with a target of storing 100 million tons of CO2 over 25 years.
