Electrochemical firm Dioxycle is developing technology to convert industrial CO2 emissions from steel and cement plants into ethylene and formic acid. The company plans to start commercial production by 2028, focusing on sites with cheap, low-carbon electricity to keep operating costs down. A mobile industrial demonstrator will launch in France this year to test the integration of different chemicals across various sites. By using a direct electrified pathway, Dioxycle aims to reduce both capital expenditure and the complexity of traditional multi-step chemical manufacturing.
