DIB launches sustainable finance series to speed up climate transition in UAE real estate
gulfnews.comDubai Islamic Bank has launched a new sustainable finance series called Unlocking Sustainable Finance, starting with a focus on real estate. The first event brought together over 80 stakeholders from the built environment sector to discuss how financing can support lower carbon buildings, energy efficiency, and resilient infrastructure. DIB formalized a green building facility with Azizi Developments and a Green Concierge partnership with Imtiaz Developments to help clients move from sustainability goals to measurable action. DIB has committed to making 15 percent of its financing and investing book sustainable by 2030, with about half already achieved. So far, the bank has deployed nearly 20 billion dirhams in sustainable financing, avoided over 155,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, supported more than 13,000 electric vehicles, and delivered nearly 96,000 MWh in energy savings. The series will expand to other priority sectors facing complex transition challenges.
