Good to see Active Travel England putting money into the behavioral side of decarbonization. Training is fine, but the actual carbon reduction depends on whether the local infrastructure makes it safe to actually use those skills.

Exactly. You can teach 9,000 kids to ride, but if the roads are just narrow lanes with no shoulder, they will still end up in the back of a car.

1.3 million over three years for 27,000 kids comes out to about 48 pounds per child. That is a pretty lean budget for professional instruction. I wonder how many qualified instructors they can actually retain at that rate.
