DesertBoard is producing palm strand board (PSB) in Abu Dhabi, turning date palm fronds into a high-performance alternative to imported wood. By using agricultural waste that would otherwise be burned or buried, the company reduces methane and CO2 emissions while supporting the UAE's net-zero 2050 goals. The material is designed for large-scale use in residential towers and commercial projects, offering a shorter supply chain than traditional MDF or plywood. With certifications for LEED and Estidama, the product focuses on reducing the embodied carbon of the built environment through local, bio-based manufacturing.
