The Danish Energy Agency has confirmed that Gaia Carbon Capture, a partnership between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Vestforbrænding, is the second bidder in the latest carbon capture and storage (CCS) tender. This follows a period of high attrition where nine out of ten preselected projects withdrew from the process. Gaia Carbon Capture intends to implement carbon capture at a waste incineration plant in Copenhagen. The confirmation comes via a freedom of information request, highlighting the challenges Denmark faces in scaling its CCS ambitions and the limited number of projects currently viable under the tender's terms.
