DEME achieves highest CO2 Performance Ladder Level 3 for carbon emission reduction in dredging and construction
dredgewire.comDEME, a major dredging and marine construction company, has reached Level 3 under the new CO2 Performance Ladder 4.0, the highest possible rating. This certification, awarded by the Dutch foundation Stichting Klimaatvriendelijk Aanbesteden en Ondernemen, gives DEME a competitive edge in public tenders by verifying its carbon management practices. The company now has full visibility on its scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and an independently verified roadmap toward climate neutrality by 2050 for its Benelux operations. DEME is among the first large firms in its sector to meet the stricter requirements of the updated ladder, which rewards concrete emission reductions rather than just pledges. This milestone lets DEME make informed low-carbon choices across projects and collaborate more closely with partners to cut emissions. It also positions the company ahead of tightening sustainability requirements in the maritime and construction industries.
