Delta Air Lines and Shell Aviation signed a five-year agreement to boost sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply across five key US airports: LAX, PDX, JFK, BOS, and MSP. The deal focuses on building logistics and blending infrastructure to move beyond one-off SAF purchases toward reliable, scaled supply. Shell will handle blended and unblended fuel deliveries at these hubs, aiming to make lower-emission flying a routine option. The partnership also includes evaluating next-generation SAF technologies like alcohol-to-jet and power-to-liquid pathways. Delta's chief sustainability officer said the deal proves scaling SAF is achievable through real supply chains. This agreement comes at a time when fuel market volatility highlights the need for supply diversification in aviation, a sector under pressure to cut lifecycle emissions.
