Dekiln is moving its low-carbon composite material from the lab to industrial production through a strategic partnership with Johnson Tiles. The technology uses plant-derived binders and recycled mineral powders, such as gypsum plaster, to create tiles that do not require high-temperature firing or glazing. This process reduces embodied carbon by 94 percent compared to traditional ceramic tiles and consists of over 95 percent recycled content. The companies are currently exploring the establishment of a pilot demonstration plant in Stoke-on-Trent to accelerate commercial availability.
