Deep Sky captures first certified DAC carbon removal credits in North America at Alberta facility

Deep Sky, a Montreal based project developer, has captured and permanently stored carbon dioxide at its Alpha facility in Innisfail, Alberta. The carbon removal credits have been independently certified by Isometric, marking the first certified direct air capture credits in North America. Microsoft and RBC are the first buyers under an agreement that runs through 2034. TD has also partnered with Deep Sky recently. The certification is a key step for direct air capture as a credible carbon removal method. Deep Sky's approach is tech agnostic, meaning it tests and deploys multiple DAC technologies at one site. The company has also secured investment from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The project demonstrates how Alberta's geology and industrial infrastructure can support carbon storage at scale.
