Deep Sky, a Montreal based direct air capture developer, signed a 10 year agreement with TD Bank to sell over 18,000 carbon credits. The credits come from Deep Sky's facility in Alberta and are meant to offset TD's residual emissions. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal was announced at Toronto Climate Week in June 2026. Direct air capture is still an early stage technology with high energy costs and limited global deployment. Deep Sky has already sold credits to RBC and signed agreements with ENGIE and Lufthansa. The company has raised $130 million CAD from investors including BDC Climate Fund and Breakthrough Energy Catalyst. The TD deal signals growing corporate demand for verified carbon removal credits in Canada.
