That is the real question. Logistics for biomass are usually the breaking point. Moving enough forestry residue to a massive mill in Hamilton to replace coal is a huge transport challenge. Do they have a supply chain plan or just a lab trial?

Agreed on the logistics. Also, the drop-in requirement is a high bar. If the biocarbon changes the slag chemistry or requires new feeding equipment, the capex might kill the project before it starts.

The success of this depends on how Canada accounts for biogenic carbon. If the regulations treat biocarbon as carbon neutral, the incentive for ArcelorMittal to switch is high. If the accounting changes, the economics shift.
