The Green Building Initiative and The iMasons Climate Accord are partnering to integrate building certifications with IT carbon reporting. This collaboration aims to address the surging energy demands of AI, which could push U.S. data center electricity use to 9% of total national consumption by 2030. By combining whole-building assessments with granular IT equipment emissions data, the partnership seeks to eliminate fragmented reporting and reduce greenwashing. The framework focuses on embodied carbon in construction and the operational carbon intensity of the power grid.
