Decarbonising Alumina: AlumiNEXT Webinar on Low-Carbon Refining Pathways

HILT CRC is hosting a public webinar on decarbonising alumina, featuring an update on the AlumiNEXT project. The project targets two main emissions sources in alumina refining: low or zero emissions steam generation and recovery in the Bayer Process, and decarbonising calcination using hydrogen, electrification, and other low carbon heat options. The webinar includes presentations from researchers at Adelaide University, industry perspectives from Emirates Global Aluminium, and a sector overview from the Australian Aluminium Council. The discussion will cover what is technically promising, what still needs de risking, and how industry and researchers can collaborate on practical transition pathways to low carbon alumina processing.
