De Beers 2025 Sustainability Report: Carbon Emissions Down 14%, 520MW Renewables in Southern Africa
instoremag.comDe Beers published its 2025 sustainability report, showing a 14% cut in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions since 2021, moving toward its SBTi-approved target of a one-third reduction by 2030. The company is backing Envusa, a 520MW solar and wind portfolio in southern Africa, and is testing biofuels, tyre circularity, and kelp sequestration as part of its climate work. The report also covers conservation, including management of 375,000 acres and support for Angola's first Ramsar Wetland designation, which protects the Okavango Delta water source. On the livelihoods side, De Beers says it supported 2.6 offsite jobs for every onsite job, trained 500 more women through EntreprenHER, and committed US$70 million to Botswana's Diamonds for Development Fund. Provenance efforts passed five million rough diamonds scanned on Tracr, its blockchain-backed traceability platform.
