De Beers 2025 Sustainability Report: 14% Emissions Cut, 520MW Renewables Push
thailand-business-news.comDe Beers Group published its 2025 sustainability report, covering emissions, nature, livelihoods, and diamond traceability. The company says Scope 1 and 2 emissions are down 14% since 2021, moving toward an SBTi-approved target of a one-third reduction by 2030. It also points to Envusa, a 520MW solar and wind portfolio in southern Africa, as part of its climate work. On the nature side, the report cites 375,000 acres under conservation management, Angola's first Ramsar wetland designation, and 31 rhinos translocated in Botswana. For livelihoods, De Beers reports 2.6 offsite jobs supported for every onsite job in 2025. Tracr, its blockchain traceability platform, has now registered more than five million rough diamonds. The report is useful for anyone tracking how large extractive companies handle climate disclosure and biodiversity claims. The carbon numbers are clear enough, though Scope 3 remains the hard part and the report spends more space on partnerships than on the full emissions accounting.
