The Development Bank of Nigeria is working on a program to channel climate finance to up to 50,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises. The initiative targets low-carbon transition and agricultural resilience, with a focus on women-led businesses and smallholder farmers. It includes a Climate Finance Facility and technical support for banks and businesses, and aligns with Nigeria's NDC 3.0 goals. The bank is consulting stakeholders to design the program before submitting it to the Green Climate Fund. Sectors covered include climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon transport. The five-year plan aims to put Nigerian MSMEs at the center of the country's shift to a low-carbon economy.
