The Development Bank of Namibia received a USD 1 million readiness grant from the Green Climate Fund. The money goes to strengthening Namibia's climate finance ecosystem and preparing the bank to mobilize investment for climate resilient and low carbon projects. This follows DBN's accreditation to the GCF in July 2025, making it one of the few regional entities approved under the 2024 2027 readiness support window. The grant is small but signals a practical step. Namibia needs capital for renewable energy, grid upgrades, and adaptation. Accreditation to the GCF opens the door for larger project funding later. The focus now is on building the pipeline and making sure the money reaches actual installations, not just studies.
