Daures Green Hydrogen Village in Namibia advances carbon-free fertiliser production with UNIDO and UK support

The Daures Green Hydrogen Village in Namibia is progressing toward producing the country's first carbon-free ammonium sulphate fertiliser using green hydrogen technology. The project, supported by UNIDO's Accelerate-to-Demonstrate facility and funded by the UK Government, aims to produce over 400,000 kilograms of low-carbon fertiliser annually while integrating renewable energy with agriculture, water security, and local enterprise development. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ruthy Masake highlighted the project's potential to boost agricultural productivity, industrialisation, and Namibia's green economy. The initiative uses communal land under a leasehold approved by the Erongo Communal Land Board, demonstrating a practical model for combining clean energy with sustainable land use and job creation.
