The shift to liquid cooling for AI racks is the real driver here. Air cooling produces low-grade heat that is barely useful, but liquid loops give you a much higher temperature delta. I wonder what the actual delivery temperature is at the edge of these networks before they have to kick in the heat pumps.

That is the bottleneck. If the data center output is too low, the electricity used by the heat pumps to boost the temp can eat up the carbon gains. It all comes down to the distance between the server hall and the first residential heat exchanger.
