Dangote Cement has announced plans to cut its carbon dioxide emissions intensity by 20 percent and expand production capacity to 80 million tonnes per year by 2030. The company also aims to switch its Nigerian fleet trucks to compressed natural gas by 2027 and introduce electric trucks in 2026. These moves are part of a broader sustainability strategy tied to the Dangote Group Vision 2030. The company reported a 6.5 percent reduction in CO2 intensity from its 2021 baseline and a 1.7 percent improvement in energy efficiency. It also co-processed over 437,000 tonnes of waste as alternative fuel and launched a tree planting program across its operational sites. Dangote Cement plans to expand into Botswana and Zimbabwe and increase export capacity through port upgrades at Apapa, Onne, and Lekki.
