Dangote Cement has announced plans to cut net CO2 emissions intensity by 20% and increase production capacity to 80 million tonnes per year by 2030. The company reported a 6.5% reduction in emissions intensity from its 2021 baseline, along with a 1.7% improvement in energy efficiency and an 8% drop in water consumption. These results come from using alternative fuels, reducing clinker factor, and improving energy efficiency across its operations. The company also plans to switch its fleet trucks in Nigeria to compressed natural gas by 2027, with electric trucks expected in 2026. It is expanding port infrastructure in Apapa, Onne, and Lekki to support cement exports, and adding new production capacity in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Dangote Cement says it created 625 direct green jobs last year and increased social investment spending by 56 percent. The targets are part of the broader Dangote Industries Vision 2030 plan.
