Dangote Cement Plc plans to add 1,500 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to its fleet as part of a green logistics expansion aimed at cutting carbon emissions and improving operational efficiency across its ten African markets. The company says the move will reduce reliance on diesel-powered transportation and support its decarbonisation agenda. The company also earned an upgraded 'B' rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for climate and water management, reflecting growing recognition of its sustainability efforts. Energy optimisation and cleaner fuel use remain central to its strategy, alongside corporate governance improvements including 28% female board representation. Dangote Cement's sustainability initiatives align with UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on responsible industrialisation, climate action, and community development. The CNG truck rollout is a concrete step toward lowering the carbon footprint of cement logistics in Africa.
