Dâures Green Fertiliser Project in Namibia gets US$3.6m for green ammonia and fertiliser plant
informante.web.naNamibia's Dâures Green Fertiliser Project has secured up to US$3.6 million in development funding from SDG Namibia One, part of Climate Fund Managers. The money supports a larger US$7.07 million development budget backed by the EU Global Gateway and Invest International. Enersense Energy Namibia is co-developing the project, which aims to make green ammonia and ammonium sulphate fertiliser in the Erongo Region. The planned site, about 50 km from the Atlantic coast, would use 60 MW of solar, 10 MW of wind, and a 65 MWh battery to power 40 MW of electrolysis. Target output is 20,000 tonnes of green ammonia and 80,000 tonnes of ammonium sulphate per year for local and regional markets. The project could avoid around 48,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually by replacing grey ammonia fertiliser and create up to 115 permanent jobs. Financial close is targeted for Q2 2028, with commercial operations expected in Q1 2030. A pilot at the site, the Dâures Green Hydrogen Village, is expected to produce Namibia's first locally manufactured green fertiliser by Q4 2026. Development funding covers front-end engineering, permitting, environmental studies, market development, and bankable offtake agreements.
