CURA is scaling its electrochemical process to decarbonize cement production, aiming to reduce emissions by up to 85 percent. The company uses electricity and water to process spent lime waste into low-carbon cement and agricultural products, avoiding the high heat and fuel requirements of traditional kilns. Based in Calgary, the startup offers a retrofit solution for existing producers to lower energy use and production costs. CURA has already partnered with Grand Forks Concrete to deploy a pilot demonstration plant and a commercial facility.
