Croatia Invests in Geological CO2 Storage Mapping and CCS Feasibility
balkangreenenergynews.comThe Croatian government is allocating 2.67 million EUR to map geological structures and deep saline aquifers suitable for permanent carbon dioxide storage. This initiative includes a pre-FEED study for the Bockovac site to determine the technical viability of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the region. This project is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026 and aims to support the decarbonization of heavy industry. By establishing a geological atlas, Croatia intends to create the necessary infrastructure for future CO2 transport and storage projects.
