EcoPact targets developers pursuing green building certifications such as BREEAM or LEED, which now reward verified reductions in concrete-related emissions. CRH provides environmental product declarations per cubic meter to support life-cycle assessments. The product is part of a broader industry push to decarbonize cement, where most emissions come from chemical reactions in clinker production rather than fuel combustion. Clinker substitution is a near-term lever the IEA highlights as critical before carbon capture scales. For CRH, shifting volume into low-clinker mixes helps progress toward medium-term climate targets while keeping its position in commercial and residential construction markets. The company reports that cement and lime activities account for a large share of its direct and indirect emissions. EcoPact is one of several levers CRH uses to lower emissions intensity, alongside longer-term investments in alternative binders and carbon capture pilots.
