CREW Carbon is building out its wastewater alkalinity enhancement platform with utilities, including a multi-facility deployment path at Hampton Roads Sanitation District. The company says its approach can cut operating costs, improve plant performance, and remove CO2 permanently through existing wastewater infrastructure. A Wall Street Journal report tied the collaboration to roughly $400 million in avoided capital upgrades. Whirlpool has also included CREW Carbon in a durable carbon removal portfolio arranged with ClimeFi, blending firm offtake with flexible options. With WEFTEC 2026 on the calendar and full-scale installations already running, the company is moving from pilot validation toward repeatable project pipelines in the municipal wastewater segment.
