CRC Evans wins welding contract for UK carbon capture pipeline in Liverpool Bay HyNet project

CRC Evans has secured a major contract to provide automatic mainline welding and field joint coating for the Liverpool Bay carbon dioxide transport and storage project. The pipeline will run 35 kilometers and is part of the HyNet North West cluster, which aims to capture industrial emissions from North West England and North Wales and store them permanently beneath Liverpool Bay. The project is expected to create 500 skilled jobs in the region. The contract involves both new CO2 pipeline construction and repurposing offshore assets. CRC Evans will develop specialized welding procedures to ensure long term integrity and corrosion protection for CO2 transport. The company says the work builds on its 90 years of engineering experience and aligns with its expansion into hydrogen and nuclear markets. United Infrastructure is the partner on the project.
